October 1982 — Founding
The Valenzuela City Technological College started as the Valenzuela Manpower Training Center (VMTC) and was founded in October 1982 primarily to serve the educational needs of Valenzuelano youth who were willing to learn the technical trade.

March 15, 2000 — Expansion
On March 15, 2000, Valenzuela City Polytechnic College was established by virtue of Ordinance No. 38, Series of 2000, or "An Ordinance Establishing a Valenzuela City Polytechnic College; Directing Its Objectives and Providing Funds for the Purpose". Through this, the VMTC was converted into the Valenzuela City Polytechnic College in recognition of its significant role in building the efficiency of the youth in local and national development.

2013 — Accreditation
The City Government came up with Ordinance No. 77, Series of 2013, which is a revision of the earlier ordinance, to implement various ingenious methods in improving technology education and developing new curricula in partnership with public, private, and industrial sectors.

2016 — Free Tuition
Following this, the City Council passed Ordinance No. 297, Series of 2016, or the "Education 360° Investment Program", which allowed more Valenzuelano students to enjoy free tuition and miscellaneous fees and pursue technical or academic education.

2023 — Renaming and Rebranding
The City Council approved the renaming and rebranding of ValPoly to Valenzuela City Technological College, or ValTech, through Ordinance No. 1117, Series of 2023. This move is in line with the City Government's goal to establish ValTech as the preferred technical school in Valenzuela and to acknowledge it as a first-rate educational and skills training facility.
